Excelsior Springs Man Injured and Charged in Sunday Crash
Two area residents were injured, and one charged, following a Sunday evening crash in Platte County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on I-435 when a vehicle driven by 53-year-old Excelsior Springs resident Darrin R. Wright was heading northbound.
Troopers say Wright struck the rear of another northbound vehicle being driven by 36-year-old Lathrop resident Raechel A. Gustin.
Gustin traveled off the left side of the road and came to a rest in the median.
Wright traveled off the right side of the road, down an embankment, overturned, and came to a rest on the vehicle’s top.
Both were taken to North Kansas City Hospital for treatment of moderate and serious injuries.
Troopers say both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Following the crash, troopers arrested Wright on a preliminary charge of driving while intoxicated.
He was released to North Kansas City Hospital.
