Excelsior Teen Escapes Major Injury In Early Thursday Crash

An Excelsior Springs teen escaped major injury early Thursday when his vehicle went off road and hit several trees.

According to Troop H of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 19-year-old Excelsior Springs resident Mitchell C. Berndt was driving a 2010 Cadillac SRX northbound on Interstate 29 about one mile north of Faucett at 6 A.M. Thursday when he attempted to avoid a collision with another vehicle and overcorrected.

That action sent his vehicle off the right side of the interstate where it went down an embankment and struck several trees.

Berndt was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. He refused treatment at the scene.
