August 23, 2023 7:49AM CDT
The heatwave isn’t letting up anytime soon and the National Weather Service has responded by extending the excessive heat warning.
The hot temperatures and high humidity is expected to continue so the National Weather Service has extended the excessive heat warning until 10:00 P.M. Friday.
Dangerously hot conditions with daily heat index values of 105 to 115 are expected during the afternoon and early evening hours for the entire state of Missouri. The extreme heat and humidity will increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
Additionally, there will be little to no overnight relief with lows in the upper 70s to near 80 and humid conditions.
