FAA Shutdown Wednesday Cancelled & Delayed Flights in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY – Flights in the thousands were canceled or delayed across the country Wednesday morning.

This came after the Federal Aviation Administration did something they hadn’t done since 911, by temporarily shutting down air traffic.

This was due to a malfunction from a safety system that is supposed to be checked prior to every flight.

That system did get repaired, allowing flights to resume around 8 A.M. Wednesday, but the shutdown meant extended waits for many travelers.

KCI Airport had dozens of flights, both incoming and outgoing, that were delayed.

As well as one flight from New York that was canceled.

There were nearly 280 incoming and outgoing flights scheduled at KCI Wednesday with an estimated 25,000 passengers.
