Families Eligible For Summer P-EBT Benefit
Missouri families that have a student approved for free or reduced meals during the 2020-21 school year can apply for a one time benefit.
The benefit, known as the Summer Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (Summer P-EBT), is a one-time benefit of $375 for those children that qualified for the free and reduced meals programs and was extended by congress to include the summer following the school year but still during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
However families that would like to take advantage of that program need to act quickly. The deadline to apply is Friday, October 8. Those families that also applied for P-EBT benefits will have their applications reviewed to see if they are eligible for Summer P-EBT funds as well.
The Department of Social Services says families should be aware it is easier to be eligible for the Summer P-EBT benefits than it is for the regular P-EBT program because remote learning or school closure due to COVID-19 is not required for the Summer P-EBT benefit, which means more Missouri families will be eligible for Summer P-EBT.
