FBI Warns of Increase in Online Crimes Against Children

ST. LOUIS (Missourinet) The FBI St. Louis Division is warning Missouri parents about an increase in “sextortion” of young children.
Joey Parker explains.
“Sextortion is when the offender poses as a young girl and contacts (usually) a boy online. The predator convinces the child, often 14 to 17 years old, to perform explicit acts online. The predator records the video and then extorts the child for money to prevent online humiliation. The FBI says it’s nothing new, but it is becoming more prevalent, especially against teenage boys. The agency says if you have any suspicions don’t delete anything and report it. Joey Parker, Missourinet.”
