The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating whether Missouri unnecessarily keeps seriously mentally ill adults in skilled nursing homes.
The investigation centers around the Americans with Disabilities Act. Missouri Department of Mental Health Director Valerie Huhn says some people remain in a nursing home is their mental health.
A preliminary report is expected this fall.
