First Missouri River Flood Meetings Held

Residents along the Missouri River have the opportunity to provide the Army Corps (CORE) of Engineers feedback as the Corps studies how to reduce flood risks along the river.

Program Manager Colleen Roberts with the Corps says this is a unique study with the public invited to contribute early in the process.

Corps Community Planner Ginger Niemann-Harper says the study is an outgrowth of the governors of Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa getting together to call for something different to end recurring Missouri River flooding.

The first two meetings took place this week in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Nebraska City, Nebraska. Meetings are also scheduled for Jefferson City, here in Missouri, and in Atchison, Kansas.
