Five Injured in I-29 Crash Sunday

Five people were injured in an Atchison County crash Sunday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on I-29, two miles north of Rock Port, when a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Lincoln, Nebraska resident Vanessa N. Fierras was heading northbound.

Troopers say Fierras’ front end struck the towed unit of another northbound vehicle driven by 54-year-old Melbourne, Arkansas resident Rickey L. Haney.

Fierras’ vehicle overturned into the grass median of I-29, ejecting the driver and three passengers.

Fierras and three passengers from Lincoln, Nebraska, 18-year-old Madisen B. Hansen, 19-year-old Ahmad Gregory, and 19-year-old Traishon J. Schmieding, all suffered serious injuries.

Haney came to a controlled stop on the east shoulder of I-29 and suffered minor injuries.

Troopers say Haney was the only one wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
