Four Injured in Accident East of Chillicothe Monday Afternoon

(Chillicothe, MO) –  Four individuals were injured as a result of an accident that took place three miles East of Chillicothe Monday.

At 1:25 P.M. the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to an accident that occurred as two vehicles were eastbound on US-36 Highway.

The first vehicle driven by 59-year-old Statesville, North Carolina resident Richard Cook was in the driving lane when the second vehicle driven by 24-year-old Gary Varner of Blackwell Oklahoma was in the passing lane attempting to overtake Cook’s vehicle.

The first vehicle crossed the center line and attempted to navigate a left hand turn onto county road LIV 253 causing an impact from the front right of Varner’s vehicle to the drivers side of Cook’s vehicle.

Both Vehicles came to rest on their wheels facing east on US-36 Highway.

Both drivers and two occupants in Varner’s vehicle were taken to Hedrick Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.
