Several vocational schools have received funding for their Career and Technical Education programs through through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Missouri’s Area Career Center Opportunity Grants provide funding intended to enhance the state’s Career and Technical Education capacity by providing more opportunties for students and updating or modernizing equipment or infrastructure.

The funding is part of the American Rescue Plan Act funding that was part of the state’s budget in 2023. Up to $400,000 in funding could be used for creating high-demand programs, constructing or renovating a new career center building, upgrading CTE programs, upgrading equipment, and improving infrastructure.

The Northwest Technical School of Maryville, the Hillyard Technical School of St Joseph, the Grand River Technical School in Chillicothe, and the Kirksville Area Technical School were all awarded $400,000.
