Gallatin Feb. 15 School Board Minutes

President Donovan called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., with 6 members present.

Dr. Collins, Principals Burke, Wever and Thogmartin, Activity Director Sullenger and Board Secretary Holcomb were in attendance. Staff attending were Michelle Anthuis, Nikki Berry, and Amy Holder. Guests present were Debbie Sweatman and Kimberly Borges.

Critten motioned, Dowell seconded to approve the meeting’s agenda with the amendment of adding

Nikki Berry to section V., A. Library/Technology Report. 6-0

Critten motioned, Riley seconded to approve Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. for the next
meeting. 6-0

Bird entered the meeting at 6:02 p.m.

Dowell motioned, Heldenbrand seconded to approve the minutes of January 18, 2023 meeting. 7-0

Critten motioned, Bradford seconded to approve and pay the February 2023 bills except for check #95991 and #95992. 7-0

Critten motioned, Riley seconded to approve and pay check #95991 and #95992. 6-0, Bird abstained.

Dr. Collins presented his report.

Principal Burke presented his report.

Principal Wever presented his report.

Principal Thogmartin presented her report along with the 2023 Summer School program.

Activity Director Sullenger presented his report.

Michelle Anthuis presented the High School Library & Technology report. Nikki Berry presented the

Elementary Library Report.

The board reviewed the 2023-24 Gallatin School District calendar. Bird motioned, Heldenbrand seconded to approve the calendar as presented. 7-0

Dr Collins discussed pending legislation concerning Open Enrollment with the Board. After discussion, a Resolution was accepted opposing the legislation, on a motion by Critten, Dowell seconded. 7-0

Amy Holder gave a presentation on the Gallatin Community Teacher Association.

There was no public comment.

At 7:29 p.m. the Board took a short break.

At 7:39 p.m. Bradford motioned, Riley seconded to go into closed session for discussing personnel 610.021(3,13). Bird, yea, Bradford, yea, Critten, yea, Donovan, yea, Dowell, yea, Heldenbrand, yea,
and Riley, yea.

The Board returned to open at 8:42 p.m.

Riley motioned, Critten seconded to accept Josie Williamson’s resignation, effective end of 2022-23 school year. 7-0

Critten motioned, Riley seconded to accept Monica Fawson’s resignation, effective February 3, 2023. 7-0

Bradford motioned, Heldenbrand seconded to offer Nicole Thogmartin the Elementary School Principal position for the 2023-24 school year. 7-0

Bradford motioned, Dowell seconded to offer Brent Burke the High School Principal position for the 2023-24 school year. 7-0

Bradford motioned, Heldenbrand seconded to offer Chris Wever the Middle School Principal position for the 2023-24 school year. 7-0

Having no further business, at 8:45 p.m. the Board voted to adjourn on a motion by Dowell, Critten seconded. Bird, yea,
