Missouri Governor Mike Parson signed Senate Bill 72 into law designating August 31st as Random Acts of Kindness Day to encourage Missourians to help a stranger or someone already in their life.
August 31st was chosen as it will mark the start of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. The day is already celebrated in many communities across the country.
The bill also designates the first Friday in May as Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, November 30th as Mark Twain Day and ‘Buck’ O’Neil Day in honor of their birthday. September 22nd will be known as Hazel Erby Day.
The Gateway Arch is also no officially recognized as Missouri’s state monument.
