Graceland University Music Department Supports Local Movie Theater

LAMONI, IA – Graceland University’s music department came together to support the Coliseum, Lamoni’s movie theater.
The Coliseum was significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, so this past February the Graceland University Choir and Jazz put on concerts to benefit the theater. University choirs performed a variety of cinematic music from the 1940s to 2000s. The audience was encouraged to donate online or offer in-person donations while enjoying “A Night at the Movies.”
A week later, the University Jazz Ensemble performed at the Coliseum. Between the two events, over $3,600 was raised to support Lamoni’s movie theater.
Last Friday Graceland Choirs put on a concert titled “Reflections: Sun, Earth, Moon, and Stars” in the Shaw Auditorium.
