Grand Jury Indictments Handed Down on Three Harrison County Residents

BETHANY, MO – Grand Jury Indictments were handed down on Tuesday in Harrison County against three defendants.

Travis Gilliland of Ridgeway was indicted on murder in the second degree and armed criminal action in the death of Lynn Trammell on March 15th.  He remains incarcerated on a $250,000 cash only bond.

Gilman City resident Stephen Marshall was indicted on 7 felony charges of harassment and and 7 misdemeanor counts of assault in the fourth degree. Bills of indictment were not issued on 17 additional charges.  Marshall, a former substitute teacher at South Harrison in Bethany, is alleged to have caused emotional distress to, and to have had inappropriate contact with multiple students between the ages of 12 and 13 while serving as a substitute teacher.

Marshall was originally charged in December, 2021 and was set for preliminary hearing this month.  A Grand Jury Warrant was issued with bond set at $100,000 cash only.

Dustin Fortner of Bethany was indicted on child molestation in the third degree; harassment in the first degree; sexual misconduct involving a child and abuse of a child.  Fortner was originally charged in 2020 and was set for jury trial next month.

Fortner is set to appear in court on April 21st, bond was set at $25,000, 10% approved.

A 14-panel grand jury convened to hear testimony on each case.
