Grand River Bridge Closure Planned Next Week

The Missouri Department of Transportation says U.S. Route 65 will close at the Grand River Bridge next Wednesday as the bridge deck replacement project begins.

The Grand River bridge will close at 1am Wednesday morning, August 12. Emergency vehicles will only be permitted to cross the bridge beginning on the morning of August 13th. Non-emergency traffic will be permitted to resume use of the bridge. The extended closure for non-emergency traffic is in order to allow the concrete on the new driving surface to completely cure. When the bridge reopens, it will again be open to only one lane, with the 11.5-foot width restriction in place.

A signed detour will be in place from Aug. 12 through Aug. 15 directing motorists over U.S. Route 36, Route C, and Route Z.

Contractors plan to have the bridge open to two-way traffic in early December. As with all construction, work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
