Green Hills Women’s Shelter Files Lawsuit Against Builder of New Shelter in Trenton
TRENTON, MO – A lawsuit filed in Grundy County yesterday lists deficiencies in the new Green Hills Women’s Shelter residential facility in Trenton, which the plaintiff’s claim puts the builder in violation of their contract.
In its Petition, the Green Hills Women’s Shelter said the construction was completed in late summer of 2019. Allegations of deficiencies noticed after the completion of construction include cracks in walls throughout the structure, doors that do not close properly or that do not stay closed, gaps in door jambs, flooring that is buckled and peeling up, and rusting around door frames and metal surfaces in bathrooms.
The plaintiffs say they contacted the builder, Weldon Builders and Construction, LLC about the problems, however, the repairs were never completed. The Green Hills Women’s Shelter is asking for damages for their claim of breach of contract in the amount of $684,480. Another count of the petition claims the defendant is in violation of the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, saying it used deception, false pretense, false promises, misrepresentations, factual omissions and unfair business practices in the construction of the shelter.
The defendant has not yet filed an answer to the petition.
