Hale Woman Seriously Injured After Falling Asleep While Driving

 

A Hale woman was left with serious injuries after falling asleep behind the wheel Tuesday night.

Troop A of the Highway Patrol says 66-year-old Hale resident Margaret E. Ellis was driving a 2002 Buick Rendezvous on Missouri Route 3 at Carroll County Road 261 at 11:00 P.M. Tuesday when she fell asleep behind the wheel.

The vehicle crossed the roadway going off the left side where it hit a culvert and came to rest in a creek.

The Highway PAtrol says it is unknown if Ellis was wearing a seat belt at the time, but she did suffer serious injuries. Ellis was taken from the scene by Life Flight and flown to North Kansas City Hospital for treatment.
