Hamilton Man Hurt in U.S. 36 Accident Thursday Evening

A Hamilton man was left with moderate injuries after a two-vehicle accident west of Hamilton Thursday evening.

According to the Highway Patrol, 47-year-old Brookfield resident Gary W. Nease was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 36 at 6:45 P.M. without his headlights illuminated. At that same time 37-year-old Hamilton resident Jared K. Shuman attempted to cross Highway 36 from south to north.

The Nease vehicle then impacted the driver’s side of Shuman’s vehicle. Shuman’s vehicle came to rest in the driving lane of Highway 36, but the Nease vehicle crossed the median, hit a yield sign and came to rest in the westbound lanes of Highway 36.

Both men were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. Nease suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene, while Shuman suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Liberty Hospital by Caldwell County EMS.
