Harrison, Worth, Mercer & Daviess Counties Show Decline in Population over Past Decade

Local counties saw a decline in population over the past decade. The 2020 US Census results show Harrison County suffered a 7.8 percent decline from 8,957 residents to 8,268.

Worth County lost 7.67 percent of its population, down from 2,027 to 1,987. Mercer County was down 5.54 percent, from 3,644 to 3,599. Daviess County lost 3.35 percent, from 8,295 to 8,166.

Overall, Missouri saw a 2.8 percent decrease in population from 2010 to 2020, however it was not enough to lose a congressional seat. Iowa saw an increase of 4.7 percent.
