Harrisonville Republican Looks to Exempt Firearms and Ammunition from Sales Tax
(MISSOURINET) – A Republican member of the Missouri Senate, who supports the second amendment, says taxes are hurting everyday residents and has a bill that proposes to eliminate the sales taxes of the purchase of firearms and ammunition in the Show-Me State…
That’s bill sponsor Sen. Rick Brattin of Harrisonville who says Missouri’s taxes on the sales are at 11%, something he says is too high. He also looks to provide a tax credit to local manufacturers for the amount they lose by paying the firearms and ammunition tax to the federal government. Democratic Sen. Tracy McCreery says that the MAGA Extremists pushing to make unlimited amounts of ammunition cheaper will worsen Missouri’s gun violence problem. The bill was heard in a Senate public safety committee, but no vote has been taken.
