The State Department said Wednesday that the wait for a passport is now between 12 weeks and 18 weeks, even if you pay for expedited processing. That’s because of ripple effects from the coronavirus pandemic that caused extreme disruptions to the process at domestic issuance facilities and overseas embassies and consulates. (Missourinet) Delays in getting passports in a timely manner has been a problem for Missourians all year, and the delays continue as two of the biggest travel holidays of the year approach.
U-S Senator Josh Hawley says his office is still working to expedite passport requests for Missouri residents:
Hawley says any Missouri resident needing help with getting their passport applications approved can contact his Senate office. Other members of Missouri’s congressional delegations have been handling large numbers of requests from constituents who’ve been waiting several months for their passports to arrive.
U-S State Department leaders say they’re working on reducing the backlog of passport applications.
