Hawley Wants Higher Tariffs On China As Part of Debt Cieling Negotiations

(MISSOURINET) – As the deadline to raise the U-S debt ceiling approaches, Missouri U-S Senator Josh Hawley wants to include placing higher tariffs on Chinese imports as part of the negotiations. He’s sponsoring a bill that would do so:

Hawley says China is cheating on trade, and he accuses the Communist government in Beijing of stealing 4 million jobs from the U-S over the past 20 years. The U-S House has passed a bill that would raise the debt ceiling by 1-point-5 trillion dollars for one year, in exchange for 4-point-8 trillion in spending cuts over the next 10 years. Democrats want the debt ceiling raised without any spending cuts.
