High Speed Pursuit Near Cameron Ends in Arrest of Kearney Man

CLINTON COUNTY, MO – A high speed chase near Cameron on Wednesday ended with the arrest of the driver.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office says the pursuit took place around noon on I-35 when the Missouri State Highway Patrol attempted to stop a vehicle.  The driver refused to stop and reached speeds over 100 miles per hour.

Troopers discontinued the pursuit as they reached a construction zone.  The driver then continued off the roadway and became stuck.  He was taken into custody without incident.  The Sheriff’s Office reports drugs were discovered inside the vehicle.

Formal charges were filed against 38-year-old Daniel Wyant of Kearney for felony possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated and multiple traffic violations.  He is being held on a $50,000 cash only bond.
