Highway Patrol Reports No New Years Holiday Traffic Deaths

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol this morning is reporting no holiday weekend traffic deaths, drownings or boating fatalities for the New Year’s holiday weekend.

The 78-hour holiday counting period began at 6 P.M. Thursday, December 30 and lasted through midnight Sunday, January 2. Superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Colonel Eric T. Olson says preliminary numbers from the weekend counting period show Troopers working 406 crashes across the state involving 91 injuries but no fatalities.

Troopers made 94 Driving While Intoxicated arrests

There were no boating crashes or drownings over the 2022 New Year’s holiday counting period.

Last year during the 78-hour New Year’s counting period, there were 1,247 traffic crashes statewide. In those crashes, six people were killed and another 389 people were injured. Troopers arrested 94 people for driving while impaired last year.
