Hopkins Driver Killed in Three-Vehicle Accident Tuesday Afternoon

NODAWAY COUNTY, MO – A Hopkins man was killed in an accident in Nodaway County Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 75-year old Hopkins resident Marcus Nelson was northbound on Missouri Highway 148, one half mile south of Hopkins just after 3 p.m. when he and another Sheridan driver slowed for a farm implement. Nelson’s vehicle was struck in the rear by a tractor-trailer operated by 45-year old Mount Ayr resident John Paxson. Nelson’s vehicle was pushed into the third vehicle and then travelled off the roadway.

Nelson was taken to Mosaic Maryville where he was pronounced dead. 67-year old Glenda Wyer-Nelson was hospitalized for moderate injuries.
