Covid-19 hospitalizations in Missouri have been near or at record levels in the past few weeks, but there’s a difference between now and what happened in April—says Dave Dillon of the Missouri Hospital Association:
Dillon adds that while we are seeing community spread and high hospital numbers, the length of stays in the hospital have been shorter.
The drug Remdesivir has also helped shorten hospital stays.
Dillon says the hospitals capacity to care for COVID-19 patients is better now—and so is the P-P-E (worker protective equipment) capacity as well:
To complikcate matters, hospitals are now also preparing for FLU season, Dillon says.
Hospitalizations are hovering at just below a thousand in Missouri
