How MO U.S. House Members Voted On New Speaker

(Missourinet) After more than three weeks without a speaker, the U.S. House has a new leader.

The U.S. House has voted in favor of giving Congressman Mike Johnson the title of speaker.

All of Missouri’s U.S. House Republicans voted in favor of Johnson, a social conservative from Louisiana. Democrats Emanuel Cleaver of Kansas City and Cori Bush of St. Louis voted in favor of making Democrat Hakeem Jeffries the speaker.

Now Congress can get back to work on pressing issues, such as aid for Israel and Ukraine, the farm bill, and preventing another government shutdown in mid-November.
