Hy-Vee has announced that vaccines for the flu will be available at Hy-Vee pharmacies throughout an 8-state region between August 17th and October 31st. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend people 6 months and older get the flu vaccine each year to prevent obtaining and spreading the virus.

Hy-Vee pharmacy team members will be required to wear face masks at all times. That will include administering the flu immunizations. Patients with COVID-19 symptoms or who have had prolonged exposure to a positive case should wait an appropriate amount of time to receive the vaccine in the interest of health and safety. Patients receiving the vaccine will also be required to wear a face covering.

There will be Drive-up flu vaccines that will be offered at several Hy-Vee pharmacy locations between August 17th and October 31st. Those locations will be offered in the parking lot on Monday from 7am until 11am, Thursday from 3pm until 7pm, and on Saturday from 10am until 2pm.

Hy-Vee pharmacists will also conduct a screening process to determine the vaccine type that would be most beneficial for each individual. Medicare and most insurance plans cover the flu vaccine and other immunizations at no charge.
