I-229 Bridge Rehabilitation Project in St. Joseph Enters Into Final Phase

The next phase of the Interstate 229 bridge rehabilitation project will proceed at Sixth and Atchsion Streets in Saint Joseph starting today.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says crews today opened the southbound bridge and closed the northbound bridge to all traffic.

During this final phase, crews will make joint repairs to the northbound bridge.

The southbound bridge was originally scheduled to open in mid-August, but additional work was added to the project, delaying the reopening.

MoDOT anticipates completing the project and reopening the northbound bridge in December.

Motorists will need to seek an alternative route during the closure.

All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
