I-229 Double-Decker Bridge Repairs Begin Today

A section of northbound Interstate 229 along the Double-Decker Bridge in St. Joseph was closed Friday, July 28, following a pavement blow up affecting the driving surface of the bridge.

Crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation plan to begin repairs today (Tuesday).

In addition to the currently closed northbound lanes of I-229 between the Edmond and Francis Street ramps, crews will also be closing the southbound lanes between the Felix and Charles Street ramps and the U.S. Route 59 (St. Joseph Avenue) ramp to southbound I-229 by 6:30 a.m. today.

During the closures, motorists will need to seek an alternate route.

A reopening date has not yet been determined.
