I-35 Accident Injures Three Monday Morning

Three women were injured in a Monday morning accident out of Clinton County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on I-35, about four miles south of Cameron, when a vehicle driven by 59-year-old Independence resident Vesta L. Smith was heading northbound.

Troopers say Smith was traveling too fast for conditions, lost control, traveled off the east side of the road, struck a tree, and overturned.

Smith and two passengers, 58-year-old Belton resident Ruth A. Murphy and 54-year-old Wellington resident Mary E. Robinett, were treated for minor and moderate injuries and taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center.

Authorities say all three were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
