I-35 Ramps Set to Close at Route BB
All mainline paving on Interstate 35 between the DeKalb County line and Shoal Creek is now complete.
Crews from Herzog Contracting Corp., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, are now moving on to the shoulder portion of the project.
This will entail placing rock on the shoulders of both the mainline of I-35 and on the ramps.
In order to place shoulder rock on the entrance and exit ramps at Route BB (Exit 52), the contractor plans to close the ramps for brief periods of time today, Wednesday, August 5, during daylight hours.
If they are not able to complete all the shoulder rock work in one day, they will come back Thursday, August 6 to finish.
Due to the nature of the work, progress along the lanes for through traffic cannot be scheduled, so the exact time the ramps will close is unknown.
During the brief closures, motorists must use another route to access Route BB from I-35 or to access I-35 from Route BB.
Through traffic on I-35 may also be affected by the shoulder work and could be narrowed to one lane between Shoal Creek and the DeKalb County line with a 12-foot width restriction in place.
Drivers are urged to stay alert and pay attention to all roadway signing and barricades.
All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
