Illinois Woman Left With Injuries And Arrest After Wrong Way Crash Monday Night
A crash late Monday night in Daviess County has left an Illinois woman with minor injuries and some legal headaches.
According to the accident report from Troop H of the Highway Patrol, at 10:47 P.M. Monday 27-year-old Aurora, Illinois resident Evelyn D. Montenegro was driving a 2009 Nissan Rogue southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 about three miles south of Winston.
That’s when authorities say her vehicle struck a 2021 Peterbilt being driven northbound by 40-year-old Excelsior Springs resident Matthew R. Doty. The collision sent the Nissan into the median where it came to rest facing north.
Montenegro was wearing a seat belt but still suffered minor injuries. She was taken by Daviess County EMS to Cameron Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The Highway Patrol reports arresting Montenegro at 11:16 P.M. for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, traveling the wrong direction on a divided highway, and not having insurance.
