Independence Man Charged After Allegedly Fleeing Into Excelsior Springs Home Early Sunday

An Independence man faces a felony charge in Clay County Court after an alleged pursuit and home invasion in Excelsior Springs early Sunday morning.

Court documents say Lewis Jay Long faces a felony charge of resisting arrest by fleeing and creating a substantial risk of serious injury or death to any person.

A probable cause statement accuses Long of eluding police at 115 miles per hour on I-35 and fleeing into an Excelsior Springs home.

Authorities say they found Long in the corner of two walls of the home and took him into custody.

The court set Long’s bond at 20 thousand dollars cash only.

Long will appear in court Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m.
