Independence Man Injured & Charged in I-35 Crash Monday

An Independence man was injured and charged in a Daviess County accident Monday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on I-35, 13 miles north of Cameron, when a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Levi D. Williams was heading northbound.

Troopers say Williams went off the west side of the road, into the median, back onto the road, overcorrected, off the east side of the road, into an embankment, overturning, and ultimately coming to a rest.

Williams suffered serious injuries and was taken by Life Flight to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City for treatment.

Troopers say Williams was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Following the crash, troopers arrested Williams on preliminary charges of felony resisting arrest by fleeing, speeding, careless and impudent driving resulting in an accident, failure to drive within the right lane of the highway, no turn signal, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, displaying the plates of another person, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to stop at a stop sign.
