Initiative Petition Bill Expected to Hit Missouri Senate Floor This Week

Look for initiative petition legislation to hit the Missouri Senate floor in Jefferson City in the final two weeks of session, possibly this week.
Senate President Pro Tem Dave Schatz tells our Missourinet affiliate KTUI that proposed constitutional amendments should require more than a simple majority for passage. He supports a proposed constitutional amendment from Bonne Terre GOP State Representative Mike Henderson, which would require an amendment to the state Constitution to receive a two-thirds supermajority vote for passage. The Henderson legislation has received final House approval, on a 111-46 vote.
Democrats say Republicans are trying to ignore the will of voters.
