Jefferson Board Approves Budget During August Session

Jefferson School Board members approved their budget for the upcoming year during their August meeting.

The budget reflects revenues of local tax collections of $846,000. Transportation will be fully funded. The district will operate a full-time Pre-K Program. They will also participate in a State Career Ladder Program. The base teacher salary for Jefferson was increased by $1,000. Jefferson will participate in the Teacher Salary Program offered by the state. The district had a carryover balance of $1.936 million dollars.

The district approved an adjusted tax levy of $6.35 per hundred dollars of assessed valuation. The levy includes $0.75 in debt service.

The board approved the Special Education Compliance Plan, preliminary bus routes, and the ACES contract for the upcoming year.

Enrollment for the junior high and high school is 58 students. The Pre-K through 6th grade enrollment is 76 students.

Jefferson’s board hired Tracy Hayden as a substitute bus driver during the session.
