A Kansas City driver was injured in a one vehicle construction zone accident Tuesday morning in Harrison County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 25 year old Alexus Thornton was heading northbound in a construction zone on Interstate 35 and went off the side of the roadway with her vehicle. The vehicle went down an embankment and overturned. It came to rest on its top. The driver received moderate injuries from the accident and was taken to Harrison County Community Hospital.
The accident took place just before 10:30am. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, the NTA Ambulance, the Missouri Department of Transportation, and the Missouri Department of Conservation assisted the Highway Patrol.
Following the crash, Troopers arrested Thornton on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner resulting in an accident, operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license, and driving while intoxicated via drugs.
Thorton was released to the hospital for treatment.
