Kansas Man Pleads Guilty to Robbing Mound City Bank

KANSAS CITY, MO – An Ottawa, Kansas man has pleaded guilty in federal court to robbing a Mound City bank.

Forty-one-year-old Marvin J. McWhorter admitted that he stole $4,445 from Citizens Bank and Trust in Mound City on December 21, 2022. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, McWhorter approached a teller station and directed the teller to give him all the money in the drawer. He was holding what appeared to be a handgun. They seized $3,813 taken from the bank robbery as well as ammunition, but no firearm.

McWhorter is subject to a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison without parole. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled at a later date.
