A Kansas teen was injured and charged in a Sunday morning accident in Holt County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on I-29, five miles east of Oregon, when a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Gardner, Kansas resident Nicholas E. Phillips was heading northbound.

Troopers say Phillips went off the west side of the road, struck the emergency median crossover, went airborne, through the median, and entered the southbound lanes.

Phillips suffered minor injuries and was checked out by Atchison Holt Ambulance at the scene.

Troopers say Phillips was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Following the accident, troopers arrested Phillips on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner involving an accident and driving while intoxicated via drugs.

Phillips was taken to the Holt County Jail.
