KC Mayor Quinton Lucas Opposes Amendment 4, Which Would Require 25% Minimum Funding for KCPD

(MISSOURINET) –  One of the proposed constitutional amendments on the Missouri ballot would mandate that Kansas City spend a minimum of 25 percent of its budget on the city’s police department. The ballot measure is opposed, however, by K-C Mayor Quenton Lucas. He says local officials should be the ones who decide how much money the K-C-P-D needs to operate:

Lucas also says Kansas City is already paying more than 25 percent of its budget on its police. Republican Senator Tony Luetkemeyer, who sponsored the measure that became Amendment 4, says it’s designed to prevent the city from going along with efforts by radical leftists to defund the police.
