Kearney Man Injured & Charged in Thursday Crash in Clay County

A Kearney man was injured and charged in a Thursday accident in Clay County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on Highway 92, at Highway A, when a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Joseph M. Sparks was heading northbound.

Troopers say Sparks failed to stop for a stop sign and traveled into a ditch.

He was taken to Liberty Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.

Troopers say Sparks was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Following the accident, troopers arrested Sparks on preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving.

He was released to Liberty Hospital.
