King City Felon Facing Firearms Charges in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, MO – A King City man has been formally charged in DeKalb County for an incident alleged to have taken place over the weekend.

The probable cause statement issued by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department says 30-year-old Jesse Chitwood got into a verbal confrontation with family members at a King City restaurant on Saturday evening. The reporting parties told officers that Chitwood then drove by their residence on Sunday evening and pointed a pistol out of the vehicle window.

According to court records, Chitwood is currently on probation for unlawful use of a weapon from 2020 and was convicted of child molestation in St. Joseph, Missouri on a 2010 case.

Chitwood is now facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a dangerous felon; unlawful use of a weapon by exhibiting and harassment in the first degree. He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Monday.
