King City FFA Partners In Promoting Ag Literacy

King City’s FFA Chapter has partnered with Agriculture Education on the Move for an agricultural literacy for third-grade students at King City Elementary.

Agriculture Education on the Move is a program through the Missouri Farmers Care Foundation. The program includes 10 weeks of education about crops, livestock, soil and water conservation, and nutrition from trained FFA educators.

33 third-grade students at King City Elementary participated in the lessons. Some of the activities included making bread, butter, corn plastic, soybean necklaces, feed rations, and soil profiling.

Agriculture Education on the Move is a component of Gentry County’s Agri-Ready County Designation program. MFC’s Agri-Ready County Designation launched in December 2015 as a voluntary connection between Missouri counties and the leadership of Missouri agriculture. Agri-Ready County Designation recognizes and builds on the impact of family farmers and agri-businesses as key contributors to our economy and the quality of life in our communities.
