King City Man Dies, Driver Seriously Injured In Gentry County Accident
A King City man died and a Clarksdale man was seriously injured following an accident early Wednesday morning south of Stanberry.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 38 year old Nicholas Merrigan of Clarksdale was driving a car southbound on Highway 169-2 miles south of Stanberry and failed to negotiate a curve. The car went across the center of the roadway, went off the road, struck a utility pole, and went airborne. The vehicle eventually hit the ground and overturned several times. 44 year old Michael Perman of King City died at the scene of the accident. Merrigan was taken to Mosaic in St Joseph with serious injuries
The accident took place around 2:30 Wednesday morning.
Nicholas Merrigan is facing DWI Alcohol Charges resulting in the death of another and Careless and Imprudent Driving charges resulting in an accident.
The Gentry County Sheriff’s Department, the Stanberry Fire Department, and the Grand River EMS assisted the Highway Patrol.
