Lane Closures For New I-35 Interchange In Kearney Begin Next Week
The first road closures for the construction of a new I-35 and 19th Street interchange in Kearney are set to begin Monday.
Crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation will close the northbound left lane of I-35 at 19th St. from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., daily, beginning Monday, April 25 and continuing until Wednesday, April 27 for median work.
This is part of a project to construct a new interchange at I-35 and 19th Street (144th St.) in Kearney.
The new interchange will cross over I-35 and include ramps to and from I-35. It will also include a diverging diamond, the second one in Clay County, and will feature two separate roundabouts, new bike lanes, along with a walking trail and sidewalks.
The project is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2023.
