Kansas legislators were close Wednesday, April 27, 2022, to approving a measure authorizing sports betting and wanted most of the state's revenues from it to go to efforts to lure professional football's Kansas City, Missouri-based Chiefs to the Kansas side of the metropolitan area. (MISSOURINET) –  Legalizing sports betting might not be in the cards this year in Missouri.

The state House passed a sports wagering bill, but some Senate members appear to be ready to fold.

State Senate Democratic Leader John Rizzo, of the Kansas City suburb of Independence, says he does not have hope in the bill passing this session.

The legislative session ends May 13.
