Lexington Man Killed in Saturday Crash on I-70

A Lexington man was killed in a Saturday afternoon crash in Lafayette County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on I-70, near mile marker 33.8, when a vehicle driven by 50-year-old William M. Lichius was heading westbound.

Troopers say Lichius’ Land Rover was struck in the rear by a 2000 Kenworth attempting an overtake.

Troopers say Lichius’ vehicle went off the north side of the road, impacted an embankment, and overturned.

Lichius was taken to Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment and was pronounced dead at 1:47 p.m.

Troopers say he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
