Livingston County Authorities Investigate Potential School Social Media Threat

CHILLICOTHE, MO – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, School Resource Officer and the Chillicothe Police Department joined the Missouri Information Analysis Center and the FBI on an investigation of possible school threat on social media on Saturday.

The investigation resulted in the suspect juvenile and parents being interviewed, seizure of suspected evidence, involvement of the juvenile office and notification to school administration.

The Sheriff’s Office says the preliminary investigation supports no legitimate intent on harming any specific person or people in general. The say the juvenile who allegedly posted the photo reported to be “joking” with the friend who received the information on social media.

The Juvenile Officer did not take anyone into detention custody status. Chillicothe School officials will handle administrative action and the juvenile office will handle any court matters from this point.
